Server-specific mechanics
Spawners, smithing templates, inactivity and other differences from vanilla
Sakana Network has a few mechanics that differ from vanilla Minecraft. Skim this page so nothing catches you by surprise.
01Spawners can be picked up with Silk Touch
Breaking a spawner with a Silk Touch pickaxe can give you the spawner as an item. It's named after its mob (e.g. "Zombie Spawner") and spawns that mob when placed.
| Spawner | Silk Touch pickup |
|---|---|
| Any spawner in the Nether | Yes |
| Spawners placed by players | Yes (anywhere) |
| Nether mob spawners such as Blaze | Yes (anywhere) |
| Natural spawners in the Overworld | No |
Natural Overworld spawners disappear
Naturally generated Overworld spawners (other than Nether mobs) are removed when you approach or touch them. Look for spawners in the Nether.
Without Silk Touch
Breaking a spawner without Silk Touch just drops XP, like vanilla.
02Duplicating smithing templates
Only the Netherite Upgrade template can be duplicated at a crafting table. Other (armor trim) templates can't be duplicated.
03First join spawns you in the wilderness
On your first join you spawn at a random safe spot in the wilderness, and your coordinates are shown in chat.
04Town upkeep depends on residents
Town upkeep is 250 SC per day plus 100 SC per resident, so it grows with your town. Keep your town bank funded.
| Residents | Daily upkeep |
|---|---|
| 1 | 350 SC |
| 3 | 550 SC |
| 5 | 750 SC |
| 10 | 1,250 SC |
05Automatic cleanup after 60 days offline
For players who haven't logged in for 60 days or more, the server automatically does the following (once a day). It can't be undone.
- Mayors: the mayorship passes to an assistant or the most active resident; towns with nobody left are disbanded
- Kings: the crown passes to the mayor of another member town
- Chest shops, bounties, money, transaction history and resident data are deleted
Going away for a while?
If you'll be away for 60 days or longer, talk to staff on Discord in advance.
06Auction wins go to your claim box
Items you win or buy on the auction house are delivered to your claim box (/ah box). They never drop on the ground, even if your inventory is full.
